Boston, MA – April 17, 2007
PCI announced today that The Christian Science Monitor has successfully implemented and launched the Scriba XML Tool Suite with the K4 Connector as the centerpiece of their content repurposing strategy. The Monitor envisioned an advanced print to web workflow integrating the K4 editorial workflow system and the Alfresco content management suite. After considering an approach based on custom scripting and XSL, The Monitor began investigating Scriba XMl.
“Scriba has allowed us to “hit the ground running” in our efforts to merge our print and web workflows. In doing so, it has allowed our developers to focus on the other aspects of the project without having to worry about developing yet another piece of code” – Terry Barbounis, CTO, The Christian Science Monitor.
Scriba allows The Monitor to accommodate the rapidly evolving requirements for content handling without the need for ongoing custom development and testing required by traditional scripting and XSL approaches. Scriba’s easy to use interface ensures that The Monitor can maintain and evolve the system with minimal ongoing consulting and development costs.
About Scriba XML
Scriba represents the next generation of XML workflow tools from PCI. Building on the success of their earlier XML tool iCPS, PCI has created a powerful, integrated solution for companies looking to unlock their content from proprietary formats and make it searchable and reusable and in the process, realize not only increased efficiency but also increased revenues.
PCI developed Scriba XML from the ground up using the latest standards-based technologies. The system centers on the Scriba Engine, a powerful, rules-based processing application that not only performs complex content conversions, but also provides sophisticated integration between other systems. Scriba XML employs a modular architecture that allows users to choose the specific extraction tools they require. In addition, Scriba provides a powerful API allowing customers to integrate directly with Digital Asset Management, Content Management and Workflow systems.
