PCI Releases Scriba™ for K4

March 1, 2006 Potomac, MD

Publishing Connections Inc. (PCI) today announced the release of the first phase of integration between Scriba and the K4 Editorial System. This integration allows users of the K4 system to apply sophisticated transformations and formatting to XML exports from K4. This approach does away with the need for complex scripting and XSL and provides customers with the ability to adapt their XML workflow to meet evolving needs without the need for programming skills and costs.

About Scriba™

PCI developed Scriba from the ground up using the latest standards-based technologies.  The system centers around the Scriba Engine a powerful, rules-based processing application that not only performs complex content conversions, but also provides sophisticated integration between other systems. Scriba employs a modular architecture that allows users to choose the specific extraction tools they require.

About K4

K4 integrates Adobe InDesign and InCopy with an open and scalable SQL database that is easy to learn, easy to manage and a snap to administer.

K4 organizes the work of designers, artists, writers, editors and production staff. It manages all the associated files and controls the production process, offering a true relational database management system that runs on all major platforms. The system allows integrated word processing and pagination, as well as discrete workflow controls for ads, images and multimedia files. K4 knows where everything is, and guarantees that you are always working on the latest versions of articles and layouts.

A Legacy of Success

PCI is a pioneer in XML extraction and conversion technology. A wide variety of publishers use their earlier product iCPS to facilitate complex XML workflows and generate additional revenue from existing content.
