Variable Data Publishing
Variable Data Publishing refers to systems and processes that allow users to create highly designed documents that contain variable content based on a specific customer, product or set of business rules. Creating successful VDP systems requires that the users, who are most often not publishing professionals or designers, have the ability to use a simple interface to select content from multiple data sources and compile this content into well designed documents.
Some examples of VDP applications are:
- Personalized response cards and mailers
- Direct mail
- Brochures and marketing collateral
- Catalog onserts, blow-ins and inserts
- On-demand print order fulfillment
- Personalized print campaigns
- Proposals, prospectus and other variable data document creation
- Web-driven personalized documents
PCI builds VDP systems based on either QuarkXPress or Adobe InDesign using the latest in XML technologies. Taking data from a wide range of heterogeneous sources and creating a homogenous data stream, PCI allows users to quickly and easily assemble and customize highly designed documents without the need for large creative staffs or knowledge of complex design tools.
